What is FATE ?

What is FATE (TAQDIR)?

1) The Standard understanding of Fate, is a development of events or actions without the beings or things in control, determined by The God or Allah.

Is this Definition of FATE, correct ?

2) Has our FATE been written ?

Yes, it has been written, before an event happens :

Al-Hadid : 22

مَآ أَصَابَ مِن مُّصِيبَةٍ فِى الْأَرْضِ وَلَا فِىٓ أَنفُسِكُمْ إِلَّا فِى كِتٰبٍ مِّن قَبْلِ أَن نَّبْرَأَهَآ ۚ إِنَّ ذٰلِكَ عَلَى اللَّهِ يَسِيرٌ

● No disaster (MUS°IBAH) strikes upon the earth or among yourselves except that it is in a BOOK (KITAB) BEFORE (QABLI) We bring it into being - indeed that, for Allah, is easy - ●

The above verse clearly shows that before a MUS°IBAH going to happen, it is already written in the BOOK.

3) Where does our FATE being written ?

In the Book, called THE UMMUL KITAB or Mother of the Book :

Al-Hajj : 70

أَلَمْ تَعْلَمْ أَنَّ اللَّهَ يَعْلَمُ مَا فِى السَّمَآءِ وَالْأَرْضِ ۗ إِنَّ ذٰلِكَ فِى كِتٰبٍ ۚ إِنَّ ذٰلِكَ عَلَى اللَّهِ يَسِيرٌ

● Do you not know that Allah knows what is in the heaven and earth? Indeed, that is in a BOOK. Indeed that, for Allah, is easy. ●

An-Naml : 75

وَمَا مِنْ غَآئِبَةٍ فِى السَّمَآءِ وَالْأَرْضِ إِلَّا فِى كِتٰبٍ مُّبِينٍ

● And there is nothing concealed within the heaven and the earth except that it is in a CLEAR BOOK (KITABUN MUBIN). ●

Ar-Ra'd : 39

يَمْحُوا اللَّهُ مَا يَشَآءُ وَيُثْبِتُ ۖ وَعِندَهُۥٓ أُمُّ الْكِتٰبِ

● Allah ELIMINATES what He wills or CONFIRMS [what He wills], and with Him is the MOTHER OF THE BOOK (UMMUL KITAB). ●

Al-An'aam : 59

وَعِندَهُۥ مَفَاتِحُ الْغَيْبِ لَا يَعْلَمُهَآ إِلَّا هُوَ ۚ وَيَعْلَمُ مَا فِى الْبَرِّ وَالْبَحْرِ ۚ وَمَا تَسْقُطُ مِن وَرَقَةٍ إِلَّا يَعْلَمُهَا وَلَا حَبَّةٍ فِى ظُلُمٰتِ الْأَرْضِ وَلَا رَطْبٍ وَلَا يَابِسٍ إِلَّا فِى كِتٰبٍ مُّبِينٍ

● And with Him are the keys of the unseen; none knows them except Him. And He knows what is on the land and in the sea. Not a leaf falls but that He knows it. And no grain is there within the darknesses of the earth and no moist or dry [thing] but that it is [written] in a CLEAR BOOK (KITABUN MUBIN). ●

4) Has our FATE been Completed before we even come to this Life ?

No, it is Constantly Changing until we die :

Faatir : 45

وَلَوْ يُؤَاخِذُ اللَّهُ النَّاسَ بِمَا كَسَبُوا مَا تَرَكَ عَلٰى ظَهْرِهَا مِن دَآبَّةٍ وَلٰكِن يُؤَخِّرُهُمْ إِلٰىٓ أَجَلٍ مُّسَمًّى ۖ فَإِذَا جَآءَ أَجَلُهُمْ فَإِنَّ اللَّهَ كَانَ بِعِبَادِهِۦ بَصِيرًۢا

● And if Allah were to punish on the people for what they have EARNED (KASABU), He would not leave upon the earth any creature. But He defers them for a specified TERM (AJAL). And when their TIME (AJAL) comes, then indeed Allah has ever been, of His servants, Seeing. ●

Ar-Ra'd : 39

يَمْحُوا اللَّهُ مَا يَشَآءُ وَيُثْبِتُ ۖ وَعِندَهُۥٓ أُمُّ الْكِتٰبِ

● Allah ELIMINATES what He wills or CONFIRMS [what He wills], and with Him is the MOTHER OF THE BOOK (UMMUL KITAB). ●

Our FATE is constantly changing because EVENTS happen in the Book is constantly being ERASED and WRITTEN.

In the UMMUL KITAB, after an event has happened, those events will also be WRITTEN into THE BOOK :

Yaseen : 12

إِنَّا نَحْنُ نُحْىِ الْمَوْتٰى وَنَكْتُبُ مَا قَدَّمُوا وَءَاثٰرَهُمْ ۚ وَكُلَّ شَىْءٍ أَحْصَيْنٰهُ فِىٓ إِمَامٍ مُّبِينٍ

● Indeed, it is We who bring the dead to life and RECORD what they have put forth and what they left behind, and all things We have enumerated in a CLEAR IMAM [BOOK] (IMAMIN MUBIN). ●

IMAMIN MUBIN is another word for KITABUN MUBIN. IMAM means to Be Followed. WHATEVER is written in The Ummul Kitab - it will happen.

And whatever has happened, it will be written back into the THE BOOK.

That's why the CONTENT of the Book is Constantly Changing. The Cause lead to one Effect, and One Effect may result in another Effect. There are Cycles of Causes and Effects. All are recorded and written in the Book.

5) What is Sunnatullah ? How is it related with Fate ?

Al-Hijr : 13

لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ بِهِۦ ۖ وَقَدْ خَلَتْ سُنَّةُ الْأَوَّلِينَ

● They will not believe in it, and verily, have passed the ESTABLISHED WAY (SUNNAH)  of the former peoples (AL-AWWALIN). ●

Al-Fath : 23

سُنَّةَ اللَّهِ الَّتِى قَدْ خَلَتْ مِن قَبْلُ ۖ وَلَن تَجِدَ لِسُنَّةِ اللَّهِ تَبْدِيلًا

● [This is] the ESTABLISHED WAY/ EFFECT of Allah (SUNNATULLAH) which has OCCURED BEFORE. And never will you find in the ESTABLISHED Way/Effect of Allah (SUNNATILLAH) any CHANGE. ●

Sunnatullah is RESULT or EFFECT or AQIBAH of an ESTABLISHED Law of CAUSE and EFFECT - based on CAUSE done. The Sunnatullah DOES NOT CHANGE.

Our FATE is determined by the ESTABLISHED Law of Cause and Effect by Allah (THIS is called KALIMAT, while the EFFECT or AQIBAH is called SUNNATULLAH), together with the INPUTS that we do as CAUSES that will result to OUTPUTS which are the EFFECTS.

SUNNATUL AWWALIN or Sunnah of the Former People is the SUNNATULLAH, meaning the EVIDENCE or EFFECT or AQIBAH of what had happened to the Former People before us :

Aal-i-Imraan : 137

قَدْ خَلَتْ مِن قَبْلِكُمْ سُنَنٌ فَسِيرُوا فِى الْأَرْضِ فَانظُرُوا كَيْفَ كَانَ عٰقِبَةُ الْمُكَذِّبِينَ

● Verily have passed BEFORE (QABLI) you, ESTABLISHED Way/Effect (SUNANUN), so proceed throughout the earth and observe how was the END / RESULT (AQIBAH) of those who denied. ●

Al-Ghaafir : 85

فَلَمْ يَكُ يَنفَعُهُمْ إِيمٰنُهُمْ لَمَّا رَأَوْا بَأْسَنَا ۖ سُنَّتَ اللَّهِ الَّتِى قَدْ خَلَتْ فِى عِبَادِهِۦ ۖ وَخَسِرَ هُنَالِكَ الْكٰفِرُونَ

● But never did their faith benefit them once they saw Our punishment. [It is] the ESTABLISHED Way/Effect of Allah (SUNNATALLAH) which has PRECEDED among His servants. And the disbelievers/disobedients (KAFIRUN) thereupon are lost. ●


6) What does it mean by Everything comes from Allah ?

An-Nisaa : 78

أَيْنَمَا تَكُونُوا يُدْرِككُّمُ الْمَوْتُ وَلَوْ كُنتُمْ فِى بُرُوجٍ مُّشَيَّدَةٍ ۗ وَإِن تُصِبْهُمْ حَسَنَةٌ يَقُولُوا هٰذِهِۦ مِنْ عِندِ اللَّهِ ۖ وَإِن تُصِبْهُمْ سَيِّئَةٌ يَقُولُوا هٰذِهِۦ مِنْ عِندِكَ ۚ قُلْ كُلٌّ مِّنْ عِندِ اللَّهِ ۖ فَمَالِ هٰٓؤُلَآءِ الْقَوْمِ لَا يَكَادُونَ يَفْقَهُونَ حَدِيثًا

● Wherever you may be, death will overtake you, even if you should be within towers of lofty construction. But if good comes to them, they say, "This is from Allah "; and if evil befalls them, they say, "This is from you." Say, "ALL[things] ARE FROM ALLAH (KULLUN-MIN 'INDILLAH)." So what is [the matter] with those people that they can hardly understand any statement? ●

Yunus : 61

وَمَا تَكُونُ فِى شَأْنٍ وَمَا تَتْلُوا مِنْهُ مِن قُرْءَانٍ وَلَا تَعْمَلُونَ مِنْ عَمَلٍ إِلَّا كُنَّا عَلَيْكُمْ شُهُودًا إِذْ تُفِيضُونَ فِيهِ ۚ وَمَا يَعْزُبُ عَن رَّبِّكَ مِن مِّثْقَالِ ذَرَّةٍ فِى الْأَرْضِ وَلَا فِى السَّمَآءِ وَلَآ أَصْغَرَ مِن ذٰلِكَ وَلَآ أَكْبَرَ إِلَّا فِى كِتٰبٍ مُّبِينٍ

● And, you are not [engaged] in any matter or recite any of the Qur'an and you do not do any deed except that We are witness over you when you are involved in it. And not absent from your Lord is any [part] of an atom's weight within the earth or within the heaven or [anything] smaller than that or greater but that it is in a CLEAR BOOK (KITABUN MUBIN). ●


Whatever WRITTEN in the UMMUL KITAB (Mother of The Book), from the smallest to the biggest, are the events that will happen and already happened. These events happen by the WILL and POWER of ALLAH Al-Ahad ONLY.

What are written in the Book are all the ESTABLISHED LAW of Cause and Effect and What we all have done as CAUSES in the PAST and What the Outputs will be as the EFFECTS, that will surely HAPPEN in the FUTURE.

It is Allah who makes all the things happen.

7) What does it mean by Allah has FASTEN our Fate in our Neck ?

Al-Israa : 13

وَكُلَّ إِنسٰنٍ أَلْزَمْنٰهُ طٰٓئِرَهُۥ فِى عُنُقِهِۦ ۖ وَنُخْرِجُ لَهُۥ يَوْمَ الْقِيٰمَةِ كِتٰبًا يَلْقٰىهُ مَنشُورًا

● And [for] every person We have FASTENED to him his FATE (T°A`IRAH) upon his neck, and We will produce for him on the Day of Resurrection a BOOK (KITAB) which he will encounter spread open. ●

The above verse is clear explanation that the T°AIRAH or FATE as translated, is what the contents of our own BOOK.

There are 2 types of Book that is written for us, either SIJJEEN :

Al-Mutaffifin : 7

كَلَّآ إِنَّ كِتٰبَ الْفُجَّارِ لَفِى سِجِّينٍ

● No! Indeed, the record of the wicked is in SIJJEEN. ●

Al-Mutaffifin : 8

وَمَآ أَدْرٰىكَ مَا سِجِّينٌ

● And what can make you know what is SIJJEEN? ●

Al-Mutaffifin : 9

كِتٰبٌ مَّرْقُومٌ

● It is a BOOK (KITAB) inscribed. ●

Or 'ILLIYYIN :

Al-Mutaffifin : 18

كَلَّآ إِنَّ كِتٰبَ الْأَبْرَارِ لَفِى عِلِّيِّينَ

● No! Indeed, the record of the righteous is in 'ILLIYYIN. ●

Al-Mutaffifin : 19

وَمَآ أَدْرٰىكَ مَا عِلِّيُّونَ

● And what can make you know what is 'ILLIYYIN? ●

Al-Mutaffifin : 20

كِتٰبٌ مَّرْقُومٌ

● It is a BOOK (KITAB) inscribed ●

Both BOOKS are the subsets of the UMMUL KITAB or the Mother of Books.

One of the BOOK is FASTENED to our NECK, inscribing what we have done as the CAUSES and will happen to us as the EFFECTS.

Who is writing it ? RAQIBUN 'ATID :

Yunus : 21

وَإِذَآ أَذَقْنَا النَّاسَ رَحْمَةً مِّنۢ بَعْدِ ضَرَّآءَ مَسَّتْهُمْ إِذَا لَهُم مَّكْرٌ فِىٓ ءَايَاتِنَا ۚ قُلِ اللَّهُ أَسْرَعُ مَكْرًا ۚ إِنَّ رُسُلَنَا يَكْتُبُونَ مَا تَمْكُرُونَ

●  .... Indeed, Our MESSENGERS RECORD (YAKTUBUN) that which you conspire ●

Qaaf : 17

إِذْ يَتَلَقَّى الْمُتَلَقِّيَانِ عَنِ الْيَمِينِ وَعَنِ الشِّمَالِ قَعِيدٌ

● When the two receivers receive, seated on the right and on the left. ●

Qaaf : 18

مَّا يَلْفِظُ مِن قَوْلٍ إِلَّا لَدَيْهِ رَقِيبٌ عَتِيدٌ

● Not he utters any word but with him is OBSERVER / MONITOR PREPARED [to record] (RAQIBUN 'ATID). ●

8) Do we have Free Will ? If Allah has put the FATE on everything, do we have CHOICE ?

Allah DID not DECREE Bad or Good Fate on us, it is US who choose and do the Actions that are CAUSES to the EFFECTS - good fate or bad fate :

Al-Baqara : 256

لَآ إِكْرَاهَ فِى الدِّينِ ۖ قَد تَّبَيَّنَ الرُّشْدُ مِنَ الْغَىِّ ۚ فَمَن يَكْفُرْ بِالطّٰغُوتِ وَيُؤْمِنۢ بِاللَّهِ فَقَدِ اسْتَمْسَكَ بِالْعُرْوَةِ الْوُثْقٰى لَا انفِصَامَ لَهَا ۗ وَاللَّهُ سَمِيعٌ عَلِيمٌ

● NO COMPULSION in the [acceptance of the] Religion (AD-DEEN). Verily, has become distinct the right course from the wrong. .. ●

Al-Kahf : 29

وَقُلِ الْحَقُّ مِن رَّبِّكُمْ ۖ فَمَن شَآءَ فَلْيُؤْمِن وَمَن شَآءَ فَلْيَكْفُرْ ۚ إِنَّآ أَعْتَدْنَا لِلظّٰلِمِينَ نَارًا أَحَاطَ بِهِمْ سُرَادِقُهَا ۚ وَإِن يَسْتَغِيثُوا يُغَاثُوا بِمَآءٍ كَالْمُهْلِ يَشْوِى الْوُجُوهَ ۚ بِئْسَ الشَّرَابُ وَسَآءَتْ مُرْتَفَقًا

● And say, "The truth is from your Lord, so WHOEVER WILLS - let him believe; and WHOEVER WILLS - let him disbelieve." ... ●

Al-Israa : 19

وَمَنْ أَرَادَ الْءَاخِرَةَ وَسَعٰى لَهَا سَعْيَهَا وَهُوَ مُؤْمِنٌ فَأُولٰٓئِكَ كَانَ سَعْيُهُم مَّشْكُورًا

● But whoever desires the Hereafter and exerts (SA'AA) the EFFORT due to it while he is a believer - it is those whose EFFORT is ever appreciated [by Allah]. ●

Taa-Haa : 15

إِنَّ السَّاعَةَ ءَاتِيَةٌ أَكَادُ أُخْفِيهَا لِتُجْزٰى كُلُّ نَفْسٍۭ بِمَا تَسْعٰى

● Indeed, the Hour is coming - I almost conceal it - so that every soul may be recompensed according to that for which [their] STRIVES / EFFORTS (TAS'AA). ●

As-Saaffaat : 60

إِنَّ هٰذَا لَهُوَ الْفَوْزُ الْعَظِيمُ

● Indeed, this is the great attainment [Jannah]. ●

As-Saaffaat : 61

لِمِثْلِ هٰذَا فَلْيَعْمَلِ الْعٰمِلُونَ

● For the like (MITHAL) of this [of Jannah], SO perform 'AMAL, [o] People who Perform 'AMAL (FALYA'MAL-IL 'AMILIN). ●



9) Why when Bad things happen to us, it is not because of Allah, but BECAUSE of ourselves ?

Aal-i-Imraan : 182

ذٰلِكَ بِمَا قَدَّمَتْ أَيْدِيكُمْ وَأَنَّ اللَّهَ لَيْسَ بِظَلَّامٍ لِّلْعَبِيدِ

● That is for what have PUT FORTH (QADDAMAT) [based on your action] BEFORE (AIDIKUM) and because Allah is not ever unjust to [His] servants. ●


Ash-Shura : 30

وَمَآ أَصٰبَكُم مِّن مُّصِيبَةٍ فَبِمَا كَسَبَتْ أَيْدِيكُمْ وَيَعْفُوا عَن كَثِيرٍ

● And whatever strikes you of disaster (MUS°IBAH) - it is for what have EARNED (KASABAT) [based on your action] BEFORE (AIDIKUM); but He pardons much. ●

Al-Baqara : 95

وَلَن يَتَمَنَّوْهُ أَبَدًۢا بِمَا قَدَّمَتْ أَيْدِيهِمْ ۗ وَاللَّهُ عَلِيمٌۢ بِالظّٰلِمِينَ

● But they will never wish for it, ever, because of what they have PUT FORTH (QADDAMAT) [based on their actions] BEFORE (AIDIHIM). And Allah is Knowing of the wrongdoers (Z°ALIMIN). ●

Yunus : 44

إِنَّ اللَّهَ لَا يَظْلِمُ النَّاسَ شَيْـًٔا وَلٰكِنَّ النَّاسَ أَنفُسَهُمْ يَظْلِمُونَ

● Indeed, Allah does not wrong (Z°ALIM) the people at all, but it is the people who are wronging themselves. ●

Al-Fath : 23

سُنَّةَ اللَّهِ الَّتِى قَدْ خَلَتْ مِن قَبْلُ ۖ وَلَن تَجِدَ لِسُنَّةِ اللَّهِ تَبْدِيلًا

● [This is] the ESTABLISHED WAY/EFFECT (SUNNAH) of Allah which has occurred before. And never will you find in the way of Allah any change. ●


The deduction of the verses above clearly shows that FATE relates with the CAUSE and EFFECT and Sunnatullah is the EFFECT.

Sunnatullah is the EFFECT in the Cause and Effect LAW, ESTABLISHED by Allah. If we choose to do an action that is the CAUSE of Good, the EFFECT will be Good, and if we choose to do an action that is the CAUSE of Bad, the EFFECT will be Bad.

All these are written in the UMMUL KITAB and whatever in the BOOK is the true DEFINITION of FATE.

Allah is Not Z°ALIM to us at all. We are the one who are Z°ALIM towards ourselves.

10) Can we ERASE the MUS°IBAH that already written in the BOOK to be happened in the FUTURE, based on the Cause that we have done in the PAST ?

Only Allah can ERASE or Eliminate what has been WRITTEN in the Book :

Ar-Ra'd : 39

يَمْحُوا اللَّهُ مَا يَشَآءُ وَيُثْبِتُ ۖ وَعِندَهُۥٓ أُمُّ الْكِتٰبِ

● Allah ELIMINATES what He wills or CONFIRMS [what He wills], and with Him is the MOTHER OF THE BOOK (UMMUL KITAB). ●

It is based on WHETHER ALLAH accepts Our Repentence and forgive us or not.

Our JOB is to REPENT and ASK for FORGIVENESS of what we have done and WRONGED (Z°ALIM) ourselves.

That's why Allah URGE us to ask for FORGIVENESS whenever we have wronged ourselves :

Al-Anfaal : 38

قُل لِّلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوٓا إِن يَنتَهُوا يُغْفَرْ لَهُم مَّا قَدْ سَلَفَ وَإِن يَعُودُوا فَقَدْ مَضَتْ سُنَّتُ الْأَوَّلِينَ

● Say to those who have DISOBEDIENT (KAFARU) [that] if they CEASE, FORGIVEN for them of WHAT HAS HAPPENED in the PAST (SALAF). But if they return [to disobedient] - then verily preceded the ESTABLISHED Way/Effect (SUNNAH) of the former people (AWWALIN). ●

Aal-i-Imraan : 135

وَالَّذِينَ إِذَا فَعَلُوا فٰحِشَةً أَوْ ظَلَمُوٓا أَنفُسَهُمْ ذَكَرُوا اللَّهَ فَاسْتَغْفَرُوا لِذُنُوبِهِمْ وَمَن يَغْفِرُ الذُّنُوبَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ وَلَمْ يُصِرُّوا عَلٰى مَا فَعَلُوا وَهُمْ يَعْلَمُونَ

● And those who, when they commit an immorality or WRONG (Z°ALIM) THEMSELVES, remember Allah and seek FORGIVENESS (ASTAGHFAR) for their sins - and who can forgive sins except Allah? - and [who] do not persist in what they have done while they know. ●

Aal-i-Imraan : 136

أُولٰٓئِكَ جَزَآؤُهُم مَّغْفِرَةٌ مِّن رَّبِّهِمْ وَجَنّٰتٌ تَجْرِى مِن تَحْتِهَا الْأَنْهٰرُ خٰلِدِينَ فِيهَا ۚ وَنِعْمَ أَجْرُ الْعٰمِلِينَ

● Those - their reward is FORGIVENESS FROM THEIR LORD and gardens (JANNAH) beneath which rivers flow, wherein they will abide eternally; and excellent is the reward of the [righteous] workers. ●

Moreover, to ERASE the MUS°IBAH  - we must be the TRUE BELIEVER and Perform CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT (S°OLEH) :

Muhammad : 2

وَالَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا وَعَمِلُوا الصّٰلِحٰتِ وَءَامَنُوا بِمَا نُزِّلَ عَلٰى مُحَمَّدٍ وَهُوَ الْحَقُّ مِن رَّبِّهِمْ ۙ كَفَّرَ عَنْهُمْ سَيِّـَٔاتِهِمْ وَأَصْلَحَ بَالَهُمْ

● And those who BELIEVE and do righteous deeds / CONTINUOS IMPROVEMENT (S°OLIHAT) and believe in what has been sent down upon Muhammad - and it is the truth from their Lord - He will REMOVE (KAFFARA) from them their misdeeds and IMPROVE (ASLAHA) their condition. ●

Al-Qasas : 67

فَأَمَّا مَن تَابَ وَءَامَنَ وَعَمِلَ صٰلِحًا فَعَسٰىٓ أَن يَكُونَ مِنَ الْمُفْلِحِينَ

● But as for one who had REPENTED (TABA), BELIEVED (AMANA) and DONE RIGHTEOUSNESS / CONTINUOS IMPROVEMENT ('AMAL S°OLEH), it is promised by Allah that he will be among the successful. ●


11) How to Prevent BAD FATE from happening to us in this world ?

Bad Fate here must means MUS°IBAH.

To prevent BAD FATE or MUS°IBAH, we must NOT DO The Causes, because MUS°IBAH is the Effects.

Sometimes people KNOW that one action is the CAUSE for one EFFECT. For example - driving VERY FAST and RECKLESS. The EFFECT is likely to have ACCIDENT as the EFFECT. That is why Allah said do not BLAME Him.

Some other times, people DONT KNOW that doing one thing or action is the CAUSE that will lead to BAD EVENTS as the EFFECT.

For this, NO OTHER means to know EXCEPT to SEARCH for GUIDANCE that will become KNOWLEDGE and the people with TRUE KNOWLEDGE know the Cause and Effects; and the KNOWLEDGE comes from TRUE UNDERSTANDING from the Book of Guidance - the Al-Quran :

Az-Zumar : 23

اللَّهُ نَزَّلَ أَحْسَنَ الْحَدِيثِ كِتٰبًا مُّتَشٰبِهًا مَّثَانِىَ تَقْشَعِرُّ مِنْهُ جُلُودُ الَّذِينَ يَخْشَوْنَ رَبَّهُمْ ثُمَّ تَلِينُ جُلُودُهُمْ وَقُلُوبُهُمْ إِلٰى ذِكْرِ اللَّهِ ۚ ذٰلِكَ هُدَى اللَّهِ يَهْدِى بِهِۦ مَن يَشَآءُ ۚ وَمَن يُضْلِلِ اللَّهُ فَمَا لَهُۥ مِنْ هَادٍ

● Allah has revealed the best statement: a BOOK (KITAB) wherein the verses are RESEMBLING [each other], off-repeated. The skins shiver therefrom of those who fear their Lord; then their skins and their hearts relax at the remembrance of Allah. That is the GUIDANCE (HUDA) of Allah by WHICH HE GUIDES whom He wills. And one whom Allah leaves astray - for him there is no guide. ●

Al-A'raaf : 52

وَلَقَدْ جِئْنٰهُم بِكِتٰبٍ فَصَّلْنٰهُ عَلٰى عِلْمٍ هُدًى وَرَحْمَةً لِّقَوْمٍ يُؤْمِنُونَ

● And We had certainly brought them a BOOK (KITAB) which We detailed WITH KNOWLEDGE ('ILM) - as GUIDANCE (HUDA) and mercy (RAHMAT) to the people who believe. ●

Luqman : 20

أَلَمْ تَرَوْا أَنَّ اللَّهَ سَخَّرَ لَكُم مَّا فِى السَّمٰوٰتِ وَمَا فِى الْأَرْضِ وَأَسْبَغَ عَلَيْكُمْ نِعَمَهُۥ ظٰهِرَةً وَبَاطِنَةً ۗ وَمِنَ النَّاسِ مَن يُجٰدِلُ فِى اللَّهِ بِغَيْرِ عِلْمٍ وَلَا هُدًى وَلَا كِتٰبٍ مُّنِيرٍ

● .. But of the people is he who disputes about Allah WITHOUT KNOWLEDGE ('ILM) and WITHOUT GUIDANCE (HUDA) and an enlightening BOOK (KITAB). ●

Understand that for every MUS°IBAH that we get, it is the EFFECT of what we have DONE and is written into the Book, an event waiting to happen.

Sometimes, the MUS°IBAH happens due to the EFFECT of someone else have done - which is also written in the Mother of the BOOK, an event waiting to happen :

Ar-Ra'd : 31

وَلَوْ أَنَّ قُرْءَانًا سُيِّرَتْ بِهِ الْجِبَالُ أَوْ قُطِّعَتْ بِهِ الْأَرْضُ أَوْ كُلِّمَ بِهِ الْمَوْتٰى ۗ بَل لِّلَّهِ الْأَمْرُ جَمِيعًا ۗ أَفَلَمْ يَايْـَٔسِ الَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوٓا أَن لَّوْ يَشَآءُ اللَّهُ لَهَدَى النَّاسَ جَمِيعًا ۗ وَلَا يَزَالُ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا تُصِيبُهُم بِمَا صَنَعُوا قَارِعَةٌ أَوْ تَحُلُّ قَرِيبًا مِّن دَارِهِمْ حَتّٰى يَأْتِىَ وَعْدُ اللَّهِ ۚ إِنَّ اللَّهَ لَا يُخْلِفُ الْمِيعَادَ

● ... And those who disbelieve do not cease to be struck by disaster (TUS°IBUHUM), for what they have done by calamity - or it will descend NEAR THEIR HOME - until there comes the promise of Allah. Indeed, Allah does not fail in [His] promise. ●

To relate to this, say an accident happened 20km away. It causes Traffic Jam probably to a radius of 20km from the place of the actual incident. It means MUS°IBAH happened which is created by other people, can affect other people in the vicinity.

But, in actual fact, a MUS°IBAH happened in Tokyo, Japan - for example Tsunami, will affect the whole world - for example the EXPORTS of Good from Japan to other countries will be affected, and hence affecting the other countries.

Going very deep, if we analyze properly, for every of our actions and the effect as the result of our actions, will not only effect us, but the whole people of the world.

Going more deep in our analysis, we can prevent or reduce the MUS°IBAH that happen as a result of other people actions, by having Knowledge - from Trusted Source. For example, if we had listened to the news from a Trusted Source that an accident had happened somewhere, we will not choose the road leading to that somewhere.

It shows that Knowledge is very Important in anything that we choose to do. Knowledge enable us to SEE, what others who dont have knowledge unable to see.

Ar-Ra'd : 19

أَفَمَن يَعْلَمُ أَنَّمَآ أُنزِلَ إِلَيْكَ مِن رَّبِّكَ الْحَقُّ كَمَنْ هُوَ أَعْمٰىٓ ۚ إِنَّمَا يَتَذَكَّرُ أُولُوا الْأَلْبٰبِ

● Then is he who KNOWS (YA'LAMU) that what has been revealed to you from your Lord is the truth like one who is BLIND? They will only be reminded who are people of understanding. ●

That is why our JOB is to Convey the Messages of Allah as Guidance and as Knowledge and as Remembrance and REMINDER to other people - so that together, the MUS°IBAH will not happen; by the WILL of Allah.

12) Does that mean we have some control over what will happen to us ? Or do we have total control of ourselves ?

There are things that we do not have any control at all. WHAT?

a) The events that already happened.

This is what we dont have control upon anything, at all.

A baby borned Black or White. The baby will not change to become White if he or she is borned Black.

An accident just happened. We cannot change that. Nothing can change the events that already have happened.

Al-Qasas : 68

وَرَبُّكَ يَخْلُقُ مَا يَشَآءُ وَيَخْتَارُ ۗ مَا كَانَ لَهُمُ الْخِيَرَةُ ۚ سُبْحٰنَ اللَّهِ وَتَعٰلٰى عَمَّا يُشْرِكُونَ

● And your Lord CREATES (YAKHLUQU) what He wills and CHOOSES (YAKHTAR); not for them was the CHOICE (KHIARAH). Exalted is Allah and high above what they associate with Him. ●

As-Saaffaat : 96

وَاللَّهُ خَلَقَكُمْ وَمَا تَعْمَلُونَ

● While Allah CREATED (KHALAQ) you and [created] what you do?" ●

The above verses mean an event that already happened - MEANING it is the EVENT that has already being CREATED (KHALQU), and the ONE who CREATES the events, all events, are only ALLAH HIMSELF and HIM Alone. We do not have any Choice except to ACCEPT those events that already HAPPENED.

The Events that already Happened is Called KHALQU (Manifested/Created).

b) Kalimatullah or the Established Law or Way of Cause and Effects. And also, the Sunnatullah - the EFFECT of the Established Law of Cause and Effect.

For example,  Fire will burn paper, plastics, skins of people, etc.

Fire is the Cause, Burn is the Effect.

We cannot change that.

Except with the Will of Allah. Only HE can change that.

13) Does Allah know what do we CHOOSE before we choose what action that we do ?

Of course. He knows BEFORE and AFTER. He is the All-Knowing - knowing everything, from the smallest to the biggest, seen or unseen, and HE KNOWS the Outcome of Everything, and ALLAH knows whether we are going to Hell or Heaven.

Al-Baqara : 255

اللَّهُ لَآ إِلٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ الْحَىُّ الْقَيُّومُ ۚ لَا تَأْخُذُهُۥ سِنَةٌ وَلَا نَوْمٌ ۚ لَّهُۥ مَا فِى السَّمٰوٰتِ وَمَا فِى الْأَرْضِ ۗ مَن ذَا الَّذِى يَشْفَعُ عِندَهُۥٓ إِلَّا بِإِذْنِهِۦ ۚ يَعْلَمُ مَا بَيْنَ أَيْدِيهِمْ وَمَا خَلْفَهُمْ ۖ وَلَا يُحِيطُونَ بِشَىْءٍ مِّنْ عِلْمِهِۦٓ إِلَّا بِمَا شَآءَ ۚ وَسِعَ كُرْسِيُّهُ السَّمٰوٰتِ وَالْأَرْضَ ۖ وَلَا يَـُٔودُهُۥ حِفْظُهُمَا ۚ وَهُوَ الْعَلِىُّ الْعَظِيمُ

● ... He knows what is BEFORE them (AIDIHIM) and what will be AFTER them (KHALFAHUM), ...●

But, there will be some people who will say - but Allah created Hell and Jannah - surely some people will enter Hell and some will enter Jannah.

It is true :

Hud : 119

إِلَّا مَن رَّحِمَ رَبُّكَ ۚ وَلِذٰلِكَ خَلَقَهُمْ ۗ وَتَمَّتْ كَلِمَةُ رَبِّكَ لَأَمْلَأَنَّ جَهَنَّمَ مِنَ الْجِنَّةِ وَالنَّاسِ أَجْمَعِينَ

● Except whom your Lord has given mercy, and for that He created them. And Will be FULFILLED (TAMMAT) THE WORD (KALIMAT) your Lord, "I will surely fill Hell with jinn and men all together." ●

Al-An'aam : 115

وَتَمَّتْ كَلِمَتُ رَبِّكَ صِدْقًا وَعَدْلًا ۚ لَّا مُبَدِّلَ لِكَلِمٰتِهِۦ ۚ وَهُوَ السَّمِيعُ الْعَلِيمُ

● And the WORD (KALIMAT) of your Lord has been fulfilled in truth and in justice. None can ALTER His WORDS (KALIMAT), and He is the Hearing, the Knowing. ●

The above verse talks about KALIMAT of Allah or Words of Allah. All KALIMAT of Allah cannot be changed, the same as all Sunnatullah cannot be changed.

HIS KALIMAT is the ESTABLISHED Law of CAUSE AND EFFECT while HIS SUNNAH - is the EFFECT or the Result or Aqibah of HIS KALIMAT. His Established Law of Cause and Effect (KALIMAT) is not Complete (TAMMAT), if Allah does not create Hell and Jannah.

But, Allah did not CHOOSE for us to do BAD things. He never ASKED us to do BAD things as a CAUSE to result in BAD punishment as EFFECT to what we have done.

Al-A'raaf : 28

وَإِذَا فَعَلُوا فٰحِشَةً قَالُوا وَجَدْنَا عَلَيْهَآ ءَابَآءَنَا وَاللَّهُ أَمَرَنَا بِهَا ۗ قُلْ إِنَّ اللَّهَ لَا يَأْمُرُ بِالْفَحْشَآءِ ۖ أَتَقُولُونَ عَلَى اللَّهِ مَا لَا تَعْلَمُونَ

● And when they commit an immorality, they say, "We found our fathers doing it, and Allah has ordered us to do it." Say, "Indeed, Allah DOES NOT ORDER IMMORALITY (FAHSYAA`). Do you say about Allah that which you do not know?" ●

14) Can our FATE be changed ? Ie. If we have been 'destined' to enter Hell - can we change that FATE to enter Jannah ?

Here is very important UNDERSTANDING that one needs to understand:

a) Allah knows what is Before us and what is After us - meaning all the events that has happened to us and All the events that will happen to us - until our final ending, whether we are going to Hell or Jannah.

Allah knows everything because He is Al-'Alim and all HIS 'ILM exists in the UMMUL KITAB or Mother of The Book.

BUT, IT DOES NOT MEAN it is Allah who DECREE or Who DECIDE that so and so person goes to Hell or so and so person goes to Jannah.

He knows whether we are going to Hell or Jannah. But, HE NEVER DECIDES that we are going to Hell or Jannah.

b) IT is us OURSELVES who DECIDE what we are going to do as CAUSES to the outcome of result or the EFFECTS - by the Established Law of Cause and Effect (KALIMATULLAH) that will determine whether we are going to Hell or Jannah.

c) To change our FATE, change the Causes of the Effect - REPENT, BELIEVE and Perform 'AMAL S°OLEH (Righteous/Continuous Improvement).
